Finding safety in the storm

Faith isn’t a static thing in our lives.  It is constantly tested by circumstances of life. Even with great faith, we can be tossed by the winds of life that will come crashing in on the shores of our foundation.  In the scripture, Peter was an example of faith and unbelief.  Jesus, standing on the waters said to Peter “come”.  At that command, Peter trusted Jesus enough to jump out of the boat and venture into the tumultuous seas. He was doing good until he flinched and took his eyes off Jesus and began to sink.

Sounds familiar? Yes it does.  We trust God, but when storms come, we flinch, faith is shaken and we begin to sink into the waves of doubt, instead of turning to Jesus, the ultimate Master of storms!

Remember…. Jesus came to the disciples, walking on the waves, in the midst of their storm. He will also come to you, in the midst of your storm.  The waves may be high and come crashing in, but there is always safety in the arms of Jesus, even while riding through the storm.  Peace is assured when we are anchored in Christ, a foundation of safety. The next time you are afraid, remember the One who calmed the angry seas is your personal Savior. He is the Captain of your soul! Be of good cheer and live courageously in the promises of God.

Matthew 14:26-27   And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, it is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

Mark 4:39   Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, PEACE be still!  And the wind ceased and there was great calm.

Psalm 93:4 The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.

Psalm 27:1   The Lord is my light and my salvation – who shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid.

Matthew 11:28:30   Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Psalm 46:1   God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Psalm 32:7   You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.

Isaiah 26:3   You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

Psalm 55:22   Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.

Psalm 4:8   In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
